The PAA is organized to provide a supportive fellowship that motivates and encourages its members to develop and expand their skills and appreciation in the field of art, to provide activities that promote appreciation of art in the community, and to encourage and help develop art programs in the schools.
The Petaluma Arts Association has been active in the community for over 50 years. The Association contributes to the community and to the schools' art programs by sponsoring exhibits, field trips, workshops, and docents. Art programs in the schools are an important part of the Association's activities. Presently a scholarship is awarded to a student at Santa Rosa Junior College. A scholarship and cash awards are offered to senior art students attending Petaluma high schools. Classroom presentations by volunteers and financial assistance for special art projects are available to Petaluma schools.
Activities are planned both to encourage beginners and to stimulate experienced artists. Monthly programs include demonstrations by guest artists, hands-on workshops, and critiques.
