I grew in a family of watercolorists, and as an artist, I love exploring abstraction of organic forms and bold colors, with a sense of fluid movement and depth, in a diversity of media (ceramics, watercolor, crochet). I received art education at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, and in ceramic studios in Boulder, Waterloo, and Petaluma. I have also been influenced by my years living abroad in Canada, Costa Rica, Bolivia, Chile and Brazil, working as a hydrogeologist, and my interest in experiencing and photographing nature while hiking and backpacking.
In more recent years, in my ceramics, I create organic designs delineated with raised underglaze and sunken stamped motifs. I hand trim my pieces to avoid a manufactured look to my ceramics. I have had my watercolors in shows in Guerneville, Costa Rica and Waterloo, and my ceramics are also exhibited in galleries in Santa Rosa and Petaluma.
