We’d like to start by thanking Camille Jordan & Rita Young for attending the board meeting on 7//2/04 to communicate several points of concern and suggestions regarding the Art in the Park booth selection process. Board meetings are open and members are encouraged to attend. The main concerns were the increase in commission and the fact that many of the active members of PAA fell last in the booth selection. As coordinator of Art in the Park, I take responsibility for the inadequate communications regarding the commission change and the fact that volunteers & the winner of the poster competition would get front of the line selection privileges. After discussion, we decided to consider a point system that would allow members to accumulate points during the year that would enhance your chances to choose a booth sooner in the Art in the Park selection process. We will also put an open agenda item for all business meetings for questions & feedback. Again, we appreciate the feedback and look forward to improving the process next year.
It’s that time of year when the nominating committee will be looking for volunteers to serve on the board and as event coordinators. This year we need volunteers for Vice President, Secretary (recording and communications/newsletter), Open Studios (which may be renamed or changed), Library Show,. If you are interested in serving in any of these capacities, please contact Camille Jordon. GO PAA!!
The July business meeting was dedicated to the Art in the Park booth sign up. The new booth layout has been well received and should provide an easier set up. We’ll look forward to your feedback at and after the event. We had over 50 artists sign up for booths at the meeting. Thanks to Mary & Ed Gary and Darold Graves for managing the sign up.
Bill shared a power point presentation of his rise as an artist. He just started painting a few years ago and has been successful with fair entries. His work is primarily landscape of the Sonoma coast, vineyards and lavender (Matanzas Creek). You can find Bills work at www.billgittins.com.
