Open Studios is upon us and the summer is getting ready to launch. It’s time to create! There will be plenty of opportunities to show your work throughout the summer with the culminating event at the Art in the Park. At least a dozen artists from PAA are interested in a Monday Morning painters group, more details below. Welcome to summer and GO PAA!!

May Meeting Highlights

The meeting was called to order by Linda Postenrieder. There were 27 members present. We had 3 guests, Dell Burchess, Lora Johnson, and Phyllis Eiger Board members in attendance Linda Postenrieder, - Co-President, JoAnn Naylor- Vice President, Jerrie Jerne' Morago- Secretary, Darold Graves- Treasurer


Announcements:

Open Studio – Our poster was presented to the members, for editing. Jerrie Jerne' Morago and Maggie Barnes, have designed this year poster. We will have 33 artists participating this year at 11 locations. We will be joining Petaluma Art Council and participating in the Art and Garden Festival which will be on June 6th. We will have our maps for Open Studios at this booth. We are looking for volunteers to work the booth. We will have 2 hr. shifts 10am – noon (includes setup), noon – 2pm, 2pm – 4pm, 4pm – 6pm (includes tear down). If you are not showing in Open Studios, please come out and help your fellow artists. We will also be looking for locations to display our posters and maps for this event. Volunteers & suggestions please contact Linda Sugar 773-1107

Website

Our website has not received its new look yet, but be patient, good things do take time. We will also be offering a Website Gallery, to those members that are interested. Each member will be entitled to post 9 pictures which will be on one page. If you want an additional page your cost will be 10.00. (A great deal) So if you want to post those pictures you can contact Lenny Eiger to receive your password. We will also be establishing a Forum on our site: This will enable us to post all the Local Art Events: Art on the Move, Art around town, Open Studios, Art in the Park, and other local events. It will also have a link for Art Talk. - An open forum for groups to discuss Art topics…

Art in the Park “Fall tradition for 47 yrs”

Poster competition is extended until June 1st!! Maggie Barnes was the only one who has submitted a photograph. Good Job Maggie! All 2D media accepted. Only requirement are landscape format and scalable down to 5X7.

Our 1st Art in the Park meeting will be Tuesday, June 15th at 6:30pm at Pelican Art. We are also looking for performers to participant in this year event. Any suggestions please contact Linda Postenrieder @ 773-3393

Museum News

Our first exhibit with the Petaluma Arts Council was a success. We hope to have a joint show in Nov. thru mid Dec. More details will be announced as time nears.

Program

Linda Postenrieder, our co-president and owner of Pelican Art Gallery, gave a wonderful program on the different ways of framing Fine Art. She has developed her techniques, by attending workshops and acquiring the latest equipment. : She explained the many different kinds of Frames and mats. This was a very informative program.

Open Studios

Open Studios, June 5 & 6, is almost here! We have 34 artists participating at 11 different sites. Copperfields windows are now adorned with samples of art from those participating in Open Studios. As noted at the top of the newsletter, we’re looking for volunteers to staff the booth at the Art & Garden show on Sunday, June 6th of Open Studios. Pelican Art Gallery has graciously offered to host an artists reception for Open Studios from 57pm on Saturday, June 5th. All PAA and PAC members are welcome to attend. Kick back with the other artists. Light refreshments and drinks will be served.

Did you know that your PAA membership entitles you to a 10% discount at the Petaluma Art Supply Store? Just show your current membership card.

Name Tags

We like knowing who you are, that’s why we have nametags for everyone at the meetings. We’d like to have all the members who have taken their nametags home with them to return your nametags. Also, the nametag allows you to participate in the monthly drawing for a $10 gift certificate to Petaluma Art and Earth art supply store. If we had a nametag for you and you lost it, please let Jan Lee know at the next meeting. There will be a small charge for replacement nametags.

The Petaluma Arts Association Meets the first Tuesday of each month. Attendance is open to all members and visitors. This month’s meeting will be held Tuesday, June 1st at 7 p.m.. See you there!

The PAA Meetings are currently held at the United Church of Christ, 825 Middlefield Road, Petaluma, California. From Petaluma Blvd. South turn south onto Mountain View, left on Mission, right on Middlefield, left into the parking lot. Meeting room borders the parking lot.
