NEW AND EXCITING SPRING FUND-RAISER ART SHOW AT THE BANK OF MARIN!
We were asked by Bank of Marin to participate in a community fund-raiser for the PAA and the Petaluma Peoples Service Center. The board agreed that this will be a good opportunity to promote our art and our art-in-the-schools program. This event will raise money for both organizations. The bank will host the event and our artists will provide the art that will be sold at the event. There will be a poster made of one of the artist's works which will be sold before and during the event (see form insert to participate in this). The date of the artists reception is April 1st, time is 6 to 8 pm at Bank of Marin on Baywood Dr. and Lakeville Hwy. A vast array of community members and leaders will be invited to attend. Our artwork will be for sale along with a poster. A percentage of art sales will go as a donation to the fund-raising event. There will be a month long exhibit at the bank prior to the April 1st reception. We encourage all our members to participate in the poster selection, please read the form and fill out carefully. BON VOYAGE FROM KAREN WEST AND THE CHRISTMAS PARTY
Approximately 50 people braved the weather and enjoyed a lovely Holiday Party at Hermann Sons Hall on Tuesday, December 9. The room was beautifully decorated and a finer feast could not be found. Thanks to everyone for their work and the terrific food! Special thanks to Jan Lee for coordinating everything so graciously and to Renee Shipley for cooking the turkey and JoAnn Naylor for cooking the ham. Also thanks to Barbara Harden, Cara Mia Piro, and Pamela Bourne for providing decorations so artistically arranged.
It is hard to believe that our two-year term is over, and I want to thank you for the opportunity to be one of your co-presidents. The board, both years, has been an amazing group of people with varied talents and interests who were a joy to meet and know. We are proud of the accomplishments of these boards.
Some of these folks were: Margo McDowell, Co-president, energetic, organized, a great sense of humor who kept me on an even keel and made this job a joy, Maggie Barnes, a tireless Secretary and chairman of Art in the Park (02) and Vice President (03), assisting with Art in the Park (03) who has amazing administrative and computer skills, Linda Sugar, vice president and co-chair of Art in the Park (02), creative, wonderful sense of humor and energetic, also technologically savvy, Diana Welch, Treasurer (02), energetic and fun-loving, Mary Bales, treasurer & assistant treasurer, Chairman of Art in the Park (02) Non-profit Application (03), tireless and valuable for her knowledge as a past board member, Diana Painter, Secretary (03), creative, detailed and beautiful minutes, Mary Gary, Temporary Secretary (03) dependable, Darold Graves (03), humor and great sense of detail in many areas, JoAnn Naylor, Membership Chairman, wonderful capacity for expressing just the right sentiment just when needed, computer skills and attention to detail, Muriel Knapp, Program Chairman, dependable, creative in seeking out programs, Ken Roman, Assistant to Programs (03), Corinne Flushman, Newsletter (02), professional and creative revamping of Newsletter, Sheila Madden, Newsletter and Non-profit Application (03), capable and unflappable, Gloria Lichau, Outreach, always dependable and cheerful, Rita Young, Chairman of Open Studio (03), confident and energetic, and Linda Postenrieder, Chairman of Art in the Park (03), cheerful, professional, and energetic.

(We are expecting any day now to hear back about the non-profit status). We thank all who worked on these accomplishments.

Margo will mention others. Again, thank you for the opportunity. It caused me to stretch a little and learn a lot -- and most of the time having fun too. I want to wish the new board headed up by Linda Postenrieder and Richard Standard, all the best! Please give them your support. We are so lucky to have them.

BON VOYAGE FROM MARGO MCDOWELL
It has been a most interesting experience to be the co-president of PAA the last two years. I have enjoyed the opportunity to get to know more of you better and working to expand our organization. Working with Karen as co-president has been a delight. She is such an incredible artist and writer and sees things in such a positive light. I feel very privileged to have shared this office with her.
Our board for 2002 was a wonderful cohesive group which helped us initiate our new roles. Linda Sugar was very supportive and positive as vice president. Maggie Barnes is super organized and did a marvelous job as secretary. Maria Bales was our guiding light as a board member from the past, the treasurer for many years who got Diana Welch going as the treasurer who kept our money straight so well. Jo Ann Naylor has been Membership Chair extraordinaire, who has spoiled us with wonderful names tags in alphabetical order, easily found. Muriel Knapp came up with stimulating programs to introduce us to all sorts of new ideas. Corinne Flushman did an outstanding job of reorganizing the newsletter and coming up with the present format. Maria Bales organized shows of member's works in various venues in town.
The board for 2003 has been equally supportive and creative. Maggie continued with her wonderfully organized qualities and computer knowledge as vice-president. Diana Painter, a new member willingly and cheerfully became our secretary and when she had to step down because of a scheduling conflict, Mary Gary stepped in and did an excellent job of keeping exacting minutes. Darold has done such a detailed job of being treasurer and contributed so many good ideas to the board. Jo Ann came up with outstanding ideas to improve our membership forms and invented a beautiful and professional brochure to publicize PAA. She also designed the logo that we adopted for our stationary. She incorporated Maria Bales delightful Walnut Park gazebo into the brochure. Muriel continued this year to find fascinating programs and lately recruited Ken Roman to assist her. The amount of members art in displays in town has been expanded greatly this year, thanks to Jo Ann Naylor, Maria Bales, Mary Gary and Lori Chatterton. Sheila Madden has gotten the newsletter out most of this year, assisted by Maggie who filled in by doing the newsletter when Sheila could not. It has been an exciting 2 years for me. I attended the HUB meetings for a year, which was very educational. We have improved the door prizes (I think) and we got rid of the A frames, and dispensed with treats at meetings!!!
Thanks to all of you for your kind support and hard work. I wish all our new officers the best for continued growth and improvement to this outstanding group of artists and people.
Sincerely, Margo McDowell
